Furniture

How does it happen?  With an invitation to a vision that begins with the wood.

With an eagle eye for a tree in need of rescue, Gary’s preference is to find the wood and rescue it from rotting in the forest, field, or even roadside.  Some of his greatest treasures are the trees that are cut down by the road crews and left to be mulched at a later date.  From these unwanted trees, Gary is able to harvest much of the raw wood used in his furniture and truly build with conscience . (When you see the end result it’s hard to believe these trees would ever be discarded!)

Once the tree has been harvested, Gary cuts the wood into slabs on his band saw mill.  Next he stores the green wood in the drying shed until it is ready for use.

From tables, chairs, desks, dressers, bookshelves, and more, the natural beauty is the focus of the design. You will notice live edges (places where bark remains), natural holes where the wood grew around something, and sometimes even fossilized tracks from insect life!

To enhance the luster of these pieces, Gary uses a polymerized tung oil made in Vermont.  Instead of a high gloss look, you get a more natural sheen from the wood itself.*
